What's a good brand name for Toilets?

The quote was "to replace the toilet". Given that it is not uncommon for toilets to leak around the wax ring/flange, particularly if the closet bolts become loose, there is often the need to replace part of the floor before installing the new stool. That $2k isn't unusual if floor or soil stack repair is required as part of the replacement.

As a Wisconsinite, I'd recommend Kohler.

If you re-read the post where the $2K was first mentioned, you'll notice that there is no mention of any other repairs. In fact, it doesn't even sound like the plumber pulled the toilet or even came on site.

Philo said "That was two years ago and zero problems. Took an hour or so to put it in." I'm pretty sure he would have mentioned it if there were floor or stack repairs required as part of the install.

Don't buy Kohler.

Can you give a valid reason for that? Between work and home we have at least 6 Kohlers that work perfectly over the past 8 years.

Home Depot has a $100 Glacier Bay that consumer reports rates as good as most any of them including ones costing nearly three times that price.

Last time I bought a Cadet (American standard I think) at home depot and it seemed fine. Didn't see it listed at CR though.
