Two more deaths at Grand Canyon

When we crossed Donner Pass, got to see the Hale Bopp comet. Remarkable.

There are three main routes into the park. 120 on the north, 140 in the center and 41 in the south. All are spectacular drives.

I've been up there in the summer, when it's 100 degrees in palm springs and there's still snow at the summit. Good hiking up there (you can drive up the back side); had a golden retriever that loved to slide down the snowbanks on her belly.

Yeah, Trump is really f****ng things up countrywide. His insane hatred of California is unbelievable for the soi disant leader of the free world; he's worse than any namecalling playground bully, most of whom grow out if it by the time they become adults. Not Trump tho.

Isn't that the comet that some group was taking a bus ride to? Hey, drink this. Did you miss the bus?

The Clinton foundation went belly up when she lost. It was comical that when they gave money to the Clinton foundation they deducted it from their taxes. Most of the Clinton foundation funds went to jobs for their friends and them jet setting around the world. The Haitians even kicked them out.

It was Harry Truman that said something like, the only way to get rich in politics is to be a crook.

Mine does but I see people's responses to them.

How much do you think it cost when Obama decided to take a 'casual' little stroll down the block for a burger? How many people do you think would be buying Michelle's book if she was just another mediocre lawyer from Chicago? Do you think 'Dreams of my Father' was flying off the shelves before Obama improved his brand?

It's the getting from Yosemite to Carson City that's the trick...

I think it was in Wambaugh's 'The Secrets of Harry Bright' where he describes the tram as a good cheap drunk. I never did it and probably never will. I've got days and days for that sort of stuff.

Yup. Kinky Friedman wrote a book, 'Steppin; on a Rainbow'. They did.

I was lucky both times on Washington - CAVU both times. Our Alaska cruise only had half a day of rain and very little fog/cloud. Mount Teide in the Canaries had a thin layewr of cloud about 2/3 of the way up but not enough that you couldn.t see the top, or see the coast from the top

Google Groups doesn't have killfiles, and I don't care enough about Usenet to get a real interface.

aioe.org is free as is eternal september. Thunderbird works ok on a Mac if you're at all interested. It's kill file is handy and it has an "ignore thread" button.

Scenery was spectacular. I think it was early December and there was snow up there and I saw a coyote there. That afternoon I was swimming in a pool in Palm Springs.

The tram ride that really impressed me was from Chamonix to the peak of Mt. Blanc. This was on a business trip to Geneva weekend.

It was late May and 70 degrees in the valley and around 0 at the top of the mountain. There were people climbing the mountain and people with glide planes jumping off. People were skying on the mountain top. Tram was full of the skiers with their gear.

Actually, that's my annual labor day trip. Head into the park early monday morning, a short morning hike, then head up 120 later in the day and across Tuolumne Meadows and down the Tioga pass. Overnight in Lee Vining, next morning drive to Bodie, then up to carson city or virginia city on to south lake, overnight at one of the casinos, then back home.
