Two factor authentication scam

I've always thought that for every phone scammer that I riled - - they would provide my phone number to a dozen other phone scammers .. so .. why invite those calls ? .. just hang up ! Or better yet - don't answer ! It's quite easy .. let it go to voice mail .. duh. John T.

I let most go, but if I have the time, better I annoy them so they don't scam others. I hung up on a roofing company. Ten minutes later, they called using a different number. This time I talked to them They said if I had damage they could replace it and have insurance pay for it. Shyster outfit. Gave them a made up name, address not mine and they sent someone out the next day. Two days later, got another call from there telemarketer. Gave different name and address, made the appointment.

Your experience is very different from mine - - 98 % of my spam calls are robo calls - - no actual person is involved - except me. .. life is too short to waste it on robo bot spammers. Me and me other have both learned to check the call display - so so easy to ignore the spammers. John T.

Not everyone is like you. If I have the time, I annoy them.

Till you hit one of them that wants to really annoy you, and constantly phones you from different numbers, non stop, saying things like we already moved your electricity contract to my company and you can do nothing against it. I'm not imagining it, it happened to a news reporter, he wrote a book about it. And you have to be very careful with your words, because they record them, and use them to generate the wordings from you agreeing to the contract. Never say the word "yes", for instance.

my father got his ass saved by a bank teller. he got a scam call claiming my son was in custody of law enforcement and was asking for $20K to post bond for release. he went to the bank to get the money and the teller questioned him what he was using it for. she convinced him it sounded sketchy and despite "law enforcement" telling him not to call anyone, such as me who worked and still works with my son every day, he called an asked me if my son was ok. yeah dad, he's fine. are you sure fos? yes i am sure. how sure are you? i'm getting up from my desk and walking 15 feet so i can see him at his workstation. i can see him at his workstation, dad. are you sure fos? ffs old man do you want me to send you a photo? :/

the scammer preyed on his emotions and my dad gaslighted himself into not believing what i was telling him. i had to verbally slap him upside his head on the phone to get him to come to his senses.

they do this stuff because it works. are constantly stories in the media about people getting bilked out of money.

hey, i just got a sms saying i need to pay a late e-zpass (new york toll road, i90) fee now or there will be dire consequences. i should get right on it. oh wait, i just topped off the account last week, i never let the balance drop below $100. nevermind.

He was fortunate. Another scam is claiming a kidnap, pay or you don't see him alive again. And pay by computer or phone, they are not risking the person going to the bank, where they will ask questions. And they keep you on the phone all the time, so you can not phone anybody else.

I wish I could get my mother to stop answering the phone. (Except when it's me, of course.) I've switched everything I can think of (bank, credit cards, etc.) so that I get the calls instead of them going to her landline.

On the plus side, she's so deaf, she usually just hangs up on anyone she can't understand. She's done it to me before, when I was unable to out-shout her television.
