Touch Lamp Nightmare

Well, my new sensor arrived and I very carefully installed it reading and rereading the instructions. I was pretty proud of myself as I plugged it in.....POP!!!!!! It was over in a flash, no pun intended. I must have crossed a wire somewhere, oh well, I've got one of those dimmer plugs and that'll just have to do. Now, where's that damn cat!

I recall installing a non-grounded outlet with a switch in my old house to replace the one that was grounded with a switch. I cant recall what I did but I blew up the switch in an instant. I had to hunt long and hard to find another switch that was only 2 prong.

I don't know what that means. The diagram that came with the sensor shows black to black, red to white and black, white to black. Trouble is, all the wire in my lamp is black, thats where I just guessed.

OW! Ah feel your pain Don.

Jeff

Yea well I know what it means and I blew up mine anyway. At least you have an excuse :) Well actually there is no excuse for guessing, lol. I can appreciate your description "POP!!!!!!" Especially as you are right there when it happens. I assume you reached to unplug it after the pop wondering if you should or should not grab it.
