Tesla solar roof BS

It was two years ago that Elon Musk claimed that Tesla had a big new product, their solar roof tiles, that would revolutionize residential solar. The tiles made for a roof looked very similar to shingles, instead of the conventional, big, ugly panels. They started taking "orders" which consisted of just a $1000 deposit.

So, two years later, how many have been actually installed? Musk told investors that it's a few hundred, the problem is that it's hard to do life testing on something that's going to last 30 years. Tesla later had to correct that, saying that the few hundred includes roofs that are under contract, partially installed, etc, etc, etc. Other reports put the real number at just twelve. One that was just completed on a typical home is in CA. It cost $100K and took a team of a dozen several weeks to install. In other words, it only makes sense for rich hippies.

One big short seller said he thinks Musk is doing all his crazy tweeting on purpose, so he will be fired. He says the whole Tesla empire is rotten to the core, will never be profitable, that Musk can't deliver and figures it's better to be fired so he can avoid an impending disaster. IDK if he's right, but clearly that solar BS is a long, long way from prime time.
