Tearing out Wall...

Hi all. I have a section of wall between kitchen and dining room that I have contemplated removing. In general, what all is involved in doing something like this? Is it something one could do themselves or should a pro be consulted? The home was built in 1926 and is one level.

Any input appreciated. Chris Swartz

Step one. Determine if it is a load bearing wall.

While there are some general rules, but you really want to have a pro handle this part.

Other than that you will need to know how to drywall, and how to patch the floor between the two rooms.

How are your electrical and plumbing skills? You may need both. You may even have HVAC work to move.

If you have all those skills, you should be fine. You are likely able to handle some parts of the project, but since you had to ask, I would suggest you are not likely to be able to handle all the parts. Maybe you can find a contractor who will let you do some parts of the project.
