Suggestions for hardest, most durable paint coat for shelves

Nov 30, 2004 4 Replies

What is the hardest, most durable choice of paint for painting shelves? We want to minimize scratching and marks on the closet shelves which will be used for a combination of books, games, and clothes.

For your purpose, polyurethane. Hell, even a decent oil paint. What you *DON'T* want is latex "paint".

Pick any porch and floor paint (except latex types). Polyurethanes are exceptionally wear resistant, probably your best choice. HTH

if it bothers you that much make the shelves out of stone.

even epoxy paint is gonna scratch eventually.
