Recently some doves and martins have begun stealing dry cat food set out for the outside cats. Evidently the cats are AWOL too often - probably searching for new SOs at the neighbors.
Maybe a 'No birds allowed' sign next to the cat food?

Cats might be eating the birds.

The cats are lucky it's only their food. A neighbor had a long haired cat that liked to lounge around. The swallows viewed it as a source of building materials and would swoop down, grab a beakful of fur, and get the hell out of Dodge. afaik the cat never managed to catch one of them.
