Slide-in Electric Range/Oven replacement

Need to replace a 20 year old Jenn-Air 30" slide-in electric range.



2 questions
  1. If replaced by another brand of slide-in, what problems, if any, to look for ? Will any brand just drop in?


  1. If replaced by a freestanding, what kind of problems ? Jenn-Air is direct wired. Should new be direct wired or new outlet installed ? Will a 30" freestanding just slip in place (after cutting out slide-in base/kick plate)

install a 4 prong 220 outlet and purchase the male plug (they don't come with the new range).
