**My very old refrigerator has never needed repair. The refrigerator section works problem free. But the 'frostless' freezer is now coating up with frost. The door gasket has been checked, but it's not the problem. Any ideas on how to find/fix the problem?

Good chance the heating element is gone. Or the timer

You've seen a few goods suggestions so far. I'll toss out a possibility:

Could be lack of airflow due to ice buildup in the interior channels. It's a bit of a PITA to test/clear, but it's free.

Empty the entire unit, shut it off and leave it open for 24 hours. Any interior ice will melt and air will flow freely.

Good luck.

I was skeptical about getting good results from your suggestion. But, I gave it a try, and a LOT of water came out.....melted ice! It was a lot of work, but it was free. And this is day 4 since then, and there's no frost at all in the freezer ! I'm amazed. Thanks so much for taking the time to post your suggestion!!

The remaining question is if it recurs in a couple of months. If it so, then it's likely a problem with the defroster.
