Sears Coldspot 106

I'm trying to find out how old my refrigerator is. It is still working although it leaves water on the floor which I wipe up periodically. It still cools and freezes but I know it's on its way out. It's quite old because it's olive green in color. Here are the specs from the ID tag on the unit:

Sears Coldspot Model 106 7645340 Serial# E43946062

I'm looking to replace it but want to get an idea of its age because I want to see how long this model has lasted.

Do you think posting this 3 times in a half-hour is going to get you quicker responses?

Who gives a f*ck how old it is? If it's that old, and leaking, and you're going to replace it anyway, who f****ng cares? Go get a new one and quit worrying about it, dumbass.

I would guess by the model number and color, it was made around 1974.

Sorry about the repeated posts but it was not intentional. I had some trouble with IE.

Yours was the only helpful remark--thanks Tom.

8/1/18. They don't make them like that anymore! Model and serial number is at bottom of freezer.

We still have a General Electric monitor top refrigerator from the

1920s. It's still in working order and has never needed a repair except for replacing the power cord. An interesting thing about the monitor top is that the entire cooling system was part of the top and removable from the box.

It is hard to tell what you are seeking from this post. I suggest that you get a real newsreader and find out what is being discussed and answered on the newsgroup: alt.home.repair You may get better results.

I put that i had model 106.8770 633 kenmore coldspot light green , top freezer type. I knew it was older than 1996 cause it came with a house I purchasedm back then. Now I know how to date it If you look real close on the inside refridge part top left. theres the serial number tag. I just didnt think the date was on it when I looked before. It is on it, but it's further back in there, the last thing you read on the tag. somebody else told me how to figure it out from the tag, after the first three digets, mine are 106. ___ the next three tell you. the middle oneyou skip so my next four numbers are 8770 its the first and the third diget that tells you.. so skip the second diget read the 1st and 3rd its 87 mine is an 1988 so it must have been a late one so the model puts it 1987 but the tag has it marked as 03/88 could'nt believe it was that old just the freezer fan motor locked up/ no parts for it so I'm trying to use a newer one, with a different shaft size, and diff mounting holes and im bushing the shaft

So do you have a question? Have you tried ebay or

New refrigerators are far more efficient. I replaced an old 14 cu ft with an 18 cu ft and it save enough electric to pay for itself in about

3 years and was still saving money when I sold the house 15 years later.
