Repipe 30yrs home with PEX

My home insurance required me to repipe the whole home with PEX, it had poly from 1993. I hired a company, appears they made a very good job all over the house, 2Bath Kitchen, outside. They runned all the pipes through the attic, what now makes cold water hot for few minutes, and hot water cold for few minutes at night. Does it help if I insulate most of the possible PEX on the attic with those black foam pipes? How many years PEX will last? because the new pipes now are coming down inside the walls, how can I make sure not to punch or drill them when hanging something?

It depends on how many people are using the water and how much water they use. I live alone and insulating the hot water pipes in my basment had no effect, because hours go by when I'm not using the hot water. I don't know how much or many it would take before this was no longer true.

Be careful.
