Ryobi RY4CSS (C430) rebuild, mild smoking

This 4 strokes Ryobi was difficult to pull cord since new. 2 years later I decided to disassembly and find the reason, valves clearance were more than 0.2mm, the reason for high compression. Fixed that. Oil was really low, drain and applied 10/30 oil specific for trimmers/lawn-mowers. It started easy with choke, then don't even need to press accelerator to run half choke, was smooth. There is smoke when looking against a light, not a cloud. I wonder if the previous use with very low oil could damage piston rings, etc. Any idea?

Yes. Look in the cylinder through the spark plug holes to see if it is scored with a borescope.
