You have to respect a guy that is willing to go on nationwide TV and admit he screwed up. Certainly is not a typical politician, especially the present administration. .

I think you're being hard on trump. I can certainly imagine him saying something like that.

"Fauci is the oone who approved the forecast sheets. Brill is the one who approved allocations. There is no problem with the process. It's the fastest process in the history of the world. The Pfizer-trump vaccine is the best in the world. There is no problem with the Moderna-Ivanka vaccine."

I was going to say he'll probably be fired, but I forgot that trump doesn't care about incompetence, only about being disagreed with.

Can you imagine Hillary being man enough to tell the truth?

Trump is surely mad as a hatter over General Warpspeed's admission and likely considering firing him. It also greatly diminishes GW's credibility and that of Warpspeed. He was telling 60 Minutes just weeks ago how Warpseed had everything under control, how they had a massive computer with new software that would direct and track every dose from manufacturer to patient. That involved integrating information from who know how many different computer systems and we know how they typically goes. Now it turns out he couldn't even get the number of doses going out to each state in the first two weeks right. And while Trump would like to make it sound like Warpspeed was intimately involved in developing the vaccines, from what I see, all they did was hand out the money that Congress approved. That went to some vaccine companies to be used for development, the bulk went for orders for billions worth of vaccine. Then Trump lied about the military delivering the vaccine, that will be FedEx and UPS. He even implied that the military would be administering it across the country. So from what I see, the most critical role of Warpspeed, it's actually direct involvement, is to decide how much vaccine each state gets and to then tell Pfizer or Moderna where to ship it. That does not seem like a really difficult or complex task. And right out of the gate, somehow they screwed that up. Just thinking about it, I would go by state population, possibly with some adjustment factor based on current infection rates. Maybe they are spending too much time with that computer?

Someone quitting or being fired at the end of a Presidential administration seems almost pointless. Something to do with pensions? So many of those will be gone when the new President shows up anyhow.

BTW, without a lot more than what I know, I don't think he was incompetent. Based on what he said, it was his mistake, maybe a stupid mistake (or maybe there was some reason it was a likely mistake), but in most cases, one mistake doesn't make someone incompetent. (Not checking if a gun is loaded before shooting at someone would be one exception.)

Other than expectations and some amount of planning, I don't know that anyone was hurt by his mistake. The amount of re-planning needed, when you don't get as much as you expecteed, should be minimal.

I heard about a hospital somewhere that had 3, or maybe it was 4, people with greater than usual side effects, but he pointed out, that was out of 3000 people vaccinated. One in a 1000, and they were all better now.

But what I found more interesting was that one place had vaccinate 3000 people in 6 days. Staff members.
