Every year in the US there are roughly 14,000 homicides and 22,000 suicides by gun.

Of those, a little less than 1/4 % of homicides and 1/10 % of suicides are by assault rifle, but banning assault rifles is widely seen as the solution to the murder rate.

I don't like to accuse people of being racist without knowing them, but it really does seem like the reasoning here is to ban the types of guns that are most scary to white people. I would suspect that people of color are more likely to be shot with 9 mm handguns.

They don't even get upset when you point out a lot of those urban murders are of children. Shoot a few white kids in a school and it is a national emergency but when urban kids catch a stray in their own bed from a gangster gunfight in the street outside, nobody seems to notice.

Then why are the only ones you complain about are the ones with a lot of white people. There is a Columbine in Chicago on any given weekend but it is just people you don't care about shooting people you don't care about. In fact most of the "Mass Shootings" that go into the "424 mass shootings in 2019" statistic are gang beefs or other criminal activity that degraded to gunfire but that doesn't make the news either. You folks still like the stat tho.
