Passwords gone mad

You just don't have enough money there. I never pay bank fees.

I don't text terribly often, since I don't know any young people.

I'm not sure what age has to do with it.

I'm a senior citizen. I text with other senior citizens all the time. I don't think I know too many seniors citizens that *don't* text.

Earlier this week my senior citizen (SC) wife texted a SC neighbor to get the name of a SC contractor that she knew. Less than a minute later, the SC neighbor texted my SC wife his name and number. I texted the SC contractor and in less than 5 minutes he texted back with his availability.

Average age of the 4 participants - about 65. Oh wait...I don't know how old you are.

Maybe we are what you would consider "young people". ;-)

I was at the gas station this afternoon. There was nothing on the pump that could possibly be used for phone payments.

Why would you suppose a country that considers "chip and signature" to be the latest thing in credit card security to have an established cellphone payment system? In fact, it's up to the merchant to decide whether they want to collect a signature. The upshot is, basically, no security at all.

I miss the good old days, when only schizophrenics talked to themselves in public.

With nothing but a keypad, texting is onerous. I have a flip phone.

OK. if you don't post here for two weeks we'll notify your bank and also schedule an undertaker pickup.

I occasionally text with five people, including my kids. Daughter texts me every day, presumably to see that I'm still alive. A couple of friends, maybe a text a week.

I do get some notifications though. Handy to know the USPS put a package in the mailbox, prescription ready for pickup. CC payment received and a few things like that.

I used my phone a couple of times at a rest stop vending machine on I95. Never saw it at a gas station or grocery store. At Public I pay using their app to scan the QWR code on the register screen.

The people looking for boat ramp keys will probably be the ones who notice first.

I text from E-Mail sometimes

You won't get the 20% off tho, plus a nickel for having their loyalty card.

I like seeing live people. Particularly ones who recognize me and know how to treat a customer

Drop your I-phone in salt water and I will drop mine in. Five minutes later let's see which one still works. Drop it 10 feet on concrete, same thing. My phone is mil spec water proof to a meter and pretty much indestructible if you drop it.

When I was in the military and subject to short notice worldwide deployment, I signed up for automatic bill payment as soon as it became available in my area (Las Vegas, summer of 1985). Since then, through about

30 moves and retirement from the military, I've never regretted that decision. Utilities, insurance, credit cards, everything gets paid in full on or before it's due. I couldn't be happier.

Considering how often Yahoo mail has been hacked over the years, I would definitely use a unique password there if I had a Yahoo account, and I'd change it after every hack.

I just posted the same thing, only I've been doing it since 1985. Over the years, people who mean well have warned me not to sign up for autopay, saying I'll regret it when they take too much money out of my account. Here we are, it's 35 years later, and I not only haven't had that problem myself, but I also haven't heard of anyone around me having that problem.

Lean over the wrong thing and you will break the glass. There is a thriving business replacing cracked smart phone screens. Someone must be breaking them. I guarantee you nobody at any phone store I know is willing to try duplicating me bouncing my Samsung off a wall when I ask them if their phone can do this. S*it happens

I haven't been in the bank since a few years ago when I'd go in once a year to do the IRA contribution paperwork. Everything is direct deposit or automatic payment. I hit the ATM for walking around money every few weeks since most of my day to day stuff is done with cash.

I do have a paper check from the electric co-op that I have to deposit one of these days but I'll do that through the ATM too.

My RMD is handled automatically. I have never bought or sold stocks. Except for one card they're all automatic too as is the electric bill. I only keep the one card on paper since it comes at the end of the month. It's my reminder.
