My kitchen oven uses a 40-watt A15 incandescent bulb'



If it's compatible (high heat tolerant?) I would like to use the following



LED A15 - 5 Watt - 40 Watt Equal - Incandescent Match - 450 Lumens -



2700 Kelvin - Medium Base - 120 Volt

Any info appareciated!


Why not just use the proper incandescent? This is an oven. You are trying to make heat in there. LEDs or CFLs are not going to last long anyway.

It's not heat tolerant. IDK of any LED light like that which is, nor any LED light used in an oven. New oven here uses a low voltage halogen, don't remember if it's 5W or 20W.

I was surprised they make such a thing.

Do they? I see things coming up, mostly Ebay, but if you actually look at the description, they say filament. I think the LED in the title is just a bait and switch. Like this:

Two pics of some LED thing, third pic though is a filament bulb and in the description it says LED filament, whatever that means. I don't see how you could put a power supply and LED into a hot oven. Or what the point would be either.

Send me the link - every one I found said microwave oven only - with a ridiculously low maximum operating trmperature.

So, no such thing as an LED oven light, even though Google will return some misleading results.

Bulbs for ovens are coated in clear plastic so when the bulb breaks you don't get glass in the oven.

Do you plan to read in the oven? You have the light on for 5 minutes a d ay, don't worry about the cost of electricity.

I've worked on a lot of ovens over the decades and have NEVER seen a plastic coated bulb. Virtually every one has been enclosed in a glass "dome" that sheilds the bulb - most of them being a boron glass (like Pyrex) Plastic coated bulbs are "rough service" bulbs - generally used for trouble-lights and applications with high vibration and high probabiliy of impact damage. They would be brown in no time in an oven. Oven bulbs are also virtually always CLEAR glass - not frosted.

Based on what you say, I'm probably wrong.

I've been trying to recall. I thought maybe that's where I got the idea but I had the idea years before I heard of rough service bulbs. But maybe I was reading about them and thought the article was about stove bulbs. If I figure it out, I'll post back, even if it takes year. ;-)

I don't t hink I've ever had to replace a bulb. For years my stove didn't have one to begin with

I'm definitely not concerned about power consumption. but I prefer the color temperature of an LED. My oven has 2 lights, one in the upper left corner and one in the lower right cornere.

Mood lighting to cook roast beef by, eh...

Does it say it is suitable for oven use? I like the LED lights too. Every light in my house is LED and I prefer the whiter color temperature.

A little more, actually. And what about the she burner ?

The first time I had an LED bulb burn out I disassembled it to see what was inside.

No way that thing is going to survive an oven.

But it's interesting. Unlike a CFL, there's no vacuum and no pop when they break, just a bunch of little tiny LEDs arranged below a tough plastic dome. It actually looks pretty rugged, shock insensitive, but not heat tolerant.
