What we need is "Saw-Stop" technology on bullets, restricted to human flesh.

I'm saying that if ALL guns were to vanish from the face of the earth, and never come back, the world would be a much better place. If only some of the guns vanish...not so much.

Doesn't have anything to do with the second amendment. One might argue that guns are a bigger problem where they have no second amendment, or first, or working government at all.

Better yet does anyone know WHY we have the 2nd amm. ?? (hint... it isn't hunting or self defense against intruders though those are side benefits)

I don't buy your premise, either. Self defense isn't needed only against someone with a gun.

It *certainly* does, even "if".

Well, it is for self defense against anyone who would do you harm, including the government.

Not necessarily. The burglar, if he's smart, may have the advantage of surprise.¹

Not necessarily. I have the advantage of knowing the floor plan² and what is stored where.

¹If he's smart, though, he'll do it when no one is home. ²Except in those neighborhoods that have only one repeated floor plan.

Per mike:

I think that's kind of where I am right now.

Huge borders with Canada and Mexico... and, as one person observed, "Guns are not biodegradable".

"Kind of.." because the idea of reducing the rate of fire of the occasional nut job does have it's appeal. Whether it's worth it and whether there is a practical way to do it are two whole other discussions.

No, "BANG. Surprise!"

And laying in wait. With a gun. I certainly don't want to mix it up with someone breaking into my house. I *WANT* an"unfair" advantage.

If he's smart he isn't breaking into homes. Irrelevant.

Irrelevant when your life is on the line.

Look at the track recrd. The parts of the nation with strict gun control have high crime. Chicken or egg? Who cares? The result is the same.

1) Since it's not a "hardship" issue. what would be the point ?? 2) Who would you call a "panel of experts" 3) Do you even know how many so-called "assault weapons" are ACTUALLY used in crimes ?? If you did, you would not even be asking this

Who would be "people whoknow" ??

There is NO "ban on civilians owning fully-automatic weapons" Civilians CAN and DO own machine guns

maybe you should stop

1) guessing while you are ignorant 2) educate yourself instead of showing off your ignorance

Another benefit is that once you have educated yourself, you would not have to rely on a "panel of experts" to tell you what you should think, like some child or incompetent adult. You will be able to make up your own mind, like an adult should.

Which effectively means that you will NEVER see a ban on civilians owning guns.

Indeed.

LOL

What nonsense. It's pretty easy to deduce the floor plan of just about any house from the outside Just look at the doors and windows

More difficult with modern apartments that typically have plate glass fronts A bit easier with older apartments which have distinctive windows for different rooms.

Actually, it would not be such a "better place". We'd be back to the equivalent of the middle ages You need to think some more about the consequences of what you wish for.

You need to start thinking about the OTHER "unintended consequences" of your fantasy. I have no desire to return to the dark ages where size and strength were a far bigger factor in who ruled whom.

Again, why should I be saddled with less capacity or reduced rate of fire ?? That's just giving up advantage
