New Yard Help

Mar 20, 2007 1 Replies

We planted a new fescue yard last fall. I'm located in Zone 5. At the time, we were finishing building a new house. With so many projects going on, the yard got planted late. (Oct 1)

I got a respectable stand of grass going before winter set in, despite how late it was planted. As expected, I do have some thin spots which leads to my questions:

  1. When should I re-seed the thin spots? I'm thinking I need to do it now, the grass that is there is already green.

  1. Should I fertilize or add any chemicals when I re-seed? We used starter fertilizer when we planted.

TIA, Joe Michel
