Kitchen timer for almost deaf guys

Yes, I saw that too. The YouTube videos ARE the timer. There are several versions that run different times, all fixed.

When I bread chops they are moist and tender. Three steps/ Dredge in flour, dip in egg, then dip in seasoned bread crumbs.

If you put them in the pan right away you can lose some of the breading, thus the half hour or drying time.

If you are doing 3 pounds of bacon at a time, you should be doing it in the oven. Lay it out in a pan and you can just put it in the oven and get it to as crispy as you want. Compared to frying, you have a lot more tolerance in time and no turning. Not so good for two slices but for a large amount, very easy. You will render some fat so a pan with a lip is needed.

In that case you want a flashing light.

They should be done by now.

What do you mean "the half hour or drying time"?

After you apply the breading I let them sit on a wire rack for a half hour. The breading sticks better and does not come off in the pan.

Is there some reason you don't cook food as you need it?

Severe lack of time during the week. And we have to make all our own food.

Fair enough. Our weekday meals are quite simple, but we do take shortcuts with prepared ingredients like mayonnaise and bread.

Cook up a couple of pans of chicken drum sticks. Put in refrigerator. Instant fast food!

I don't feel a need for instant fast food. That said, I usually have a little grilled, skinless, boneless chicken breast on hand.

I had fairly quick food for dinner last night. Scrambled eggs with minced scallion and parsley mixed in. Toast. Glass of milk.

Ha! SPLIT INFINITIVE!!! The basic building block of a great "Dad" joke that will send youngsters running in terror!!!

Another example of the SPLIT INFINITIVE used to terrorize teenagers:

Q. Can a kangaroo jump higher than the Empire State Building?

A. OF COURSE! THE EMPIRE STATE BUILDING CAN?T JUMP.

Life is good!

Do you cook them with butter, sour cream or some such?

If you've never tried it, use olive oil. Healthier than butter or sour cream and adds the same rich mouth-feel as butter.

I've been mixing in mayonnaise. Bring it to room temperature, add a little salt, whip as usual. Medium low heat in a buttered pan. Nice and fluffy.

Scrambled in butter. If I don't put in the scallion and parsley, they might be scrambled in bacon fat.

Wrong flavor profile. It's butter or bacon fat for me.

Onion powder and parsley?

I have both butter and bacon fat.

I did microwave scrambles with olive oil once. Something about the microwave, they came out hideous.

Minced fresh scallions (aka green onions).

I don't use much onion powder. Creamy garlic salad dressing and a wet rub for flank steak is about it.

Mmmm.

Yeah, eggs in microwaves are tricky. It takes so little time to scramble them in a pan, I've never tried a microwave. Toasting the bread takes longer than scrambling the eggs.

I have a ceramic cooker that has holder for reheating meat over the egg to be cooked. one egg, scrambled. toss in some cheese chunks, nuke one minute.

Makes a good sandwich on toasted English muffin but I'd not serve it plated.
