Kitchen Island

Jan 22, 2006 1 Replies

We just bought a new home that has an existing kitchen island with a downdraft jennair cooktop. we hate electric cooking and plan to bring in propane and buy a downdraft gas cooktop. we also want a new larger island, i have a two-fold question. one, where does one go to buy an island or do they have to be specially built. secondly, any recommendations on downdraft cooktops powered by propane. TIA!!!!

You can go to a cabinet retailer and get an island built from stock cabinets and accesories or you can have one built custom. Depending upon your island, you may have to go custom. I would advise you to go to a real cabinet company, rather than the Depot or Lowes. You will be much happier with the results.

How do you plan to get the gas piping to the island? That may be the first question that needs to be answered.

What kind to get is up to you. Maybe some others in here can advise you on that, I can't.
