Is July 4th a four day holiday? Is the forth day Friday or Tuesday?

In 2022, we have a 3 day weekend (Sat, Sun, Mon) because Monday July 4th is a Federal Holiday.

In general:

If the 4th falls on a Monday or Friday, it's a 3 day weekend, based on the actual day. If the 4th falls on Saturday, the extra day off shifts to Friday July 3rd. If the 4th falls on Sunday, the extra day off shifts to Monday July 5th. If the 4th falls on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, that day is typically the only day off.

Companies, schools, municipalities, etc. can more or less alter this as they see fit.
