Ice in gutters

Find an old tube/sport sock fill it with a good quality ice melt and tie the end, and then put it at the uphill end of your eaves. It will keep you trough un blocked for weeks. Then fill up another sock and toss it up there. This trick has worked very well for me with ice dams as well.
