NBC news had a segment on how Visa is using AI to assist and prevent fraud. One number stood out to me. How often do you think a Visa card is used World Wide?

76,000 times a
  1. Day
  2. Hour
  3. Minute
  4. Second

If it was not stated, I'd have guess maybe #3 but it is really #4. Fraud is in the millions every day too. They also state that tapping is safer than swiping.

I didn't get one until I found out one couldn't check into a motel without one. Not it's just habit to use one for gas, groceries, and pretty much what ever I buy retail. I still write checks to the local utility companies. The local farmer's coops have remote fueling stations that I used in my working days. They issued their own cards for local companies like the one I worked for to use. I think one could use Visa, etc at those spots too.

I have several cards because they were giving around $ 200 just to get them. They also give back 1 to 5 % of what you buy. Always pay them off when due so no charge to me. Unless they give back more I seldom use a store card. Lowes gives 5 % off so I do use that store card.

Locally I use a card for gas and not much else. I do use the CostCo card there since it's your entry ticket and I have it out anyway. Even when I'm traveling it's mostly gas and motels.

Gas , groceries , and the occasional meal out on the main account . I have a card on a second account that's 99.9% used for online purchases . That second account usually has just enough money in it to cover anticipated purchases .
