coupling 3" tile pipe to 4" pvc

Jan 12, 2005 2 Replies

A buried 25' run of 3" tile pipe catches the water from two downspouts and then discharges the water to daylight. I would like to extend the buried trench another 50' with 4" sewer drain pipe. What are some good ways to connect these two pipes so that the connection seal won't fail and fill with dirt? Thanks for any thoughts on this.

Get the proper "fernco" coupling. These are rubber (with hose clamps) which come with plumbing pipe sizes on each end. For use in non-pressure applications, like yours. See a good plumbing supply store.

You may not find that size at HD, but a good builders supply yard will surely have it. The "Mission" style coupling would be best in this app.
