There is an area of my yard that gets lots of shade so the grass has departed. Today I saw the end of a hose poking out of the ground. I pulled on it thinking it was maybe a short piece of trash left over from when the house was built (in 1984) but this is a long hose buried in the ground.It's leading _away_ from the house and the exposed end is cut and clogged with dirt. It's gray in color and about 3/4" diameter. There is no gas smell. I've lived here for 17 years and this is the first I've seen of such a thing.Any thoughts on what it might be?

Leading away from the house in the front yard, back yard, side yard???What is the blob in the middle? What is at the other end of where thehose is pointing, Mars, Venus, an outbuilding, street, etc. How aboutsome usefull information!!!

I can't see the ends of the "blob". What sort of connectors are on it?

It doesn't look like hose to me. It looks like plastic conduit or pipe. Perhaps it led to some electrical outlet, lamp, spotlight, shed, or something other that had been removed before you moved in.
