Hi, Checked all the outlets with tester toggling switch on and off? Checked switch itself? SOME times they fail always off or on.

Check both sockets of the outlet. Only one will probably be switched the other always on.

No ceiling light but do you have a plate up there. I had a switch on the wall that didn't seem to go anywhere, also. Turns out it was for the light on the ceiling fan. It was presently fan only, so I added a light kit and now have both. Perhaps your two switches are one for light and other for fan.

Heh. 50% chance the problem is that someone replaced a 1/2 switched outlet without breaking the tab.

Which means that both the incoming and outgoing wire to the switch would always be live. If that's the case, you know what was done.

Often, (but not always), the switched wire is red. If a red wire exists in the switch box, look for an outlet box with a red wire. If it's capped, it was disconnected. There's always the possibility someone placed a switch in the bedroom for another room. That's rather stupid, but it happens. It could also be a mis-wired 3 way switch for the hallway leading to the bedroom.

Lots of possibilities.... If there is an attic above, try to trace where the cables go.
