I just watch an episode of Body Cam. This episode ad a segment on a stolen and then hijacked cars by the driver.When I started driving, over 60 years ago, you got in, closed the door and off you go. Never bothered locking the doors and each door had to have the button pushed down.My last three cars, maybe more, the doors would lock as soon as it was put into gear and would remain locked until put into Park.Getting back to the TV episode, the hijacked went up to a car stopped at a traffic light, opened the door, then pulled out the driver. Had the doors been locked, would not have happened. Most cars today at least have a one button to lock all doors, but auto locking would be safer.Too often we hear of car jacking on the news and it seems some could be easily prevented

Where did this take place?I'd rather have automatic headlights on all cars. That would markedlyincrease everyone's safety rather than dealing with the edge case ofcarjacking.When I visit my mother, depending on traffic I take a route thatputs me on the surface streets of Detroit for a couple of miles.I try to remember to lock my doors, but I don't stress about it.Other than that, I never lock my doors while I'm driving. I don'tlive in a third-world hellhole.

One of my cousins had a car with an aftermarket accessory. Load the kids in the back seat, close the door, and flip down the locking tab. Shudder. Child safety wasn't that big a thing in the '50s.

My subi has a switch on the car door face that won't allow you to open the door from the outside. Figured it out the hard way. "What does this do?" Had to crawl over the front seat to get out.

"All those doodads" is not the same as "some of those doodads".

When we bought my 2004 Highlander used in 2008, I didn't even know it did that. Since it has that feature, I'm willing to use it.

It's a car. It's a tool for moving me and my stuff from point A to point B.
