Anchor Hocking versus Pyrex oven save glass measuring cups

Do you have a preference? Why?

Walmart sells Anchor Hocking. Bed Bath & Beyond sells Pyrex.

Maybe due to the store (or not?) Walmart is cheaper. Bed Bath & Beyond is more than double the price.

If you're going to buy a full set (with duplicates) the cost can add up. Hence the question.

Pyrex must be the best - look at the price at WalMart Canada ! :

... hurry they're almost sold out. :-)

The Anchor Hocking and Pyrex measuring cups I had dribbled down the sides of the cup and made a mess if you tried to pour a liquid slowly.

However, these no-name cups don't make a mess when pouring:

Yes. They do.

But look at the prices.

$16 iFlower 16oz

$13 Pyrex 8oz

(I couldn't find a 16 oz cup so expect it to be around the same as the iFlower) $4 A/H 16oz

And that's a 4x price difference for just for one measuring cup.

It's made by hand ! Please support the workers ...

Real men don't measure ingredients when cooking; they just eyeball estimate how much is needed ;-)

If a little is good, a lot is better.

I see that Pyrex is no longer made of borosilicate glass and may not differ from the Anchor Hocking glass. I would buy the cheaper.

I love both.Anchor for me is about the look.

Wow! It must be good!

And what about this

Water rocket. One for $22.99, two 98.98, three 148.98, four 188.98

The 22.99 price is in 3 places.

To complicate things further (maybe, since this story is from 1961), my mother had a glass measuring cup pretty much like these, and when my brother was in medical school, he measured the volume with something from the chem lab and it was off by 20% or more.

I don't know he would do this unless maybe some professor mentioned it in class.

Where you come from they estimate.

Right. Where I come from, real men don't care if they have the "right" amount.

Heh.

Real men don't worry about it. If they want to measure, they measure.

Cooking and cleaning is women's work, right?

Not in our house. Each of us does the tasks to which our capabilities are most suited. Cooking and cleaning might be done by either of us.

We're remodeling the kitchen. Yesterday I primed the walls and ceiling, then mowed the lawn, none of which requires any particular skill. He's in charge of mechanicals, because he has skills there that I don't.

Oh, and everybody has to check that the toilet seat is configured properly for their own use. None of that "men have to put the seat down" bullshit in our family.

If you can do all that, you'd be a welcome house guest here anytime ;-)
