But the BigPharmaInc "experts" tell us to slop on the sunscreen if you dare to go outdoors. Maybe the kids are putting sunscreen in their eyes too?
I would think that would be easy to stop. They have to look at the phone or use their thumbs so I don't see how they could hide what they're doing from the teacher. She can collect the phones and give them back after class. Of course the "student" could then spend the hour doodling, but doodling's probably not as interesting as talking ot a friend.
When I was in school, the nuns would swat you with the yardstick if you took out a phone. Times have changed. Seems like teachers no longer have the control like in the past.
There were no cell phones when we were kids. We also knew our pronouns and what bathrooms to use.
US schools are ruined as social laboratories.
You must have had an awfully long cord.
I can just see you letting out a yard at a time as you walk to school, and if you took a school bus, you probably had to sit in the back with an open window.
Here's one of the more successful control systems.
The current US government is using lawfare to select the next government.
$30 does seems like a lot for a bag.
It's so hard for me to relate to this. We were all good boys and girls and if we weren't supposed to use cellphone, we wouldn't have done it. No one in my elementary school ever teased the fat girl, the ugly girl** or the girl who stuttered. No one even snickered or giggled when it was their time to recite and it took each of them forever. We all just waited patiently and quietly. JHS and HS were just about the same.
I never saw even the start of a fight. In JHS coming back from some outside gym class activity, a guy my age but who seemed to actually have muscles did something (walked too close to me?) or said something that was clearly meant to intimidate me, for what long-term goal I don't know. I told the gym teacher and that was the end of it.
The worse thing I can remember is something I did myself. In the 8th grade the teacher said to take your seats and I asked, Where should we take them? That's not much.
The idea of using the phone when the teacher said we shouldn't is so hard to relate to, and using locked bags seems like a way to tell children that they can't control themselves and they have to be physically restrained. What will happen when one of them wants to steal something and they've been convinced they have no self-restraint? What will happen when a boy wants sex with a girl and there is no $30 bag to put him in?
**I saw the ugly girl at a 25th high school reunion. Even though I had moved in the 6th grade, I went in order to see the 29 kids I spent grades 1-6 with and 6 of them were there. She was one. It was hard to interrogate her about being ugly and stupid without insulting her, but I succeeded. (I came at it indirectly.) Apparently her mother never washed her hair and she looked like a witch. She eventually knew that herself, long before our conversation. She also wasn't stupid afaict. She'd lived in France for a year or two and spoke French, and she said she was very very shy and that apparently was why it took her forever to answer the teachers' questions.Never got to talk to the other two girls. There have been some pretty effective remedies for stuttering since high school, quite some time after Biden managed to pretty much cure himself. Maybe one of them worked for her.
Your mother was a hampster and your father smelt of elderberries !
To repubs anything less than 179 degrees is "to the left" That may be "splitting hairs" in reverse. 179.9 degrees is not far enought to the right for many of them
You are so full of it, and yourself.
Yup - I'm getting nother shot before I head over to Africa in June. Be stupid and irrespnsible not to. Hate to be sick for half my time there when not necessary (after spending 10Grand to go)
Yes, I too got a booster 14 days before my trip to Guatemala. Not 10G only about 2G, but probably the last time I go there.
And before there I spent a week at my brothers, who came down with Covid while I was there, and even though I slept in the same bed for 4 nights (though it was king-size and I usually faced the edge, and he faced up or the opposite edge) his doctor friend was sure I'd catch it, but I didn't. I had 3 of the symptoms, all weak and short-lived (3 hours), but I tested myself 6 times from two batches of tests (one that I bought in Guatemala) and they were all negative.
