mower won't start

Sears Briggs and Stratton 6HP self-propelled died while running.

Brief history: Hit rock and replaced blade. Ran fine for a few hour but suddenly died. Check spark plug has spark, fuel is new an carburetor jets are cleaned and open and filter is clean. Put fue directly into cylinder ... nothing. The engine has compression when pull the starter cord. The blade rotates when I pull the cord (doe this of itself indicate flywheel key is OK??). Any thought appreciated

No. That's exactly what I suspect.

I agree, bad flywheel key and out of time.
