No power to Thermostat + Electric baseboard heater

I have a electric baseboard heater in my bathroom which does not work. I just bought this house, so no idea if it ever did. I opened up the thermostat and checked to see if the thermostat received any power at all. It seems there is no electricity flowing to the thermostat connection and hence the electric baseboard. ( Iused a electric bulb set to complete the circuit )

Since the wires are behind the wall, is there any way to check where the fault might be? All other lights etc in the bathroom work fine.

I don't see that anything has tripped.

Thanks

I am not sure how you checked for voltage at the thermostat, but you should use a volt meter. The voltage should be approximately 24v AC. If you do not know how to do this, call someone who does.

The electric baseboard heaters I've worked on have used line voltage thermostats to break the power to one side of the filament heater. That would be 220 volts.

He says he used an electric bulb set to complete the circuit. If you do not know how to read, call someone who does.

I misinterpreted his comment by thinking the thermostat was controlling a relay which in turn controlled the voltage for the heater. Sorry for the mistake. I hope you apply the same criteria to ALL the other misleading comments in this news group.

As for your comment about writing advice however, I suggest you read the comments by the so called "Pros." Not only are many of them vulgar and go out of their way to ridicule a valid question, but some actually try to cause damage to the writer's property. Although my comment may not have been helpful or even apply, at least I did not purposely try to do harm.

Ken;

It's not the question they're questioning. It's the Ho'moaner. He's the entertainment along with a few other' actors. It's hilarious you have to admit.!

Anyone who actually takes the time to read the newsgroup, it's posting and answers, would learn quickly that those who pose questions are opening themselves up to being the "entertainment" for the day.

Actually God is more of an S & M type. He put us here on Earth for his entertainment, [as cruel as it may seem.] That's why we have full unabridged will. I'm sure he's sitting whereever he / she sits laughing at us everyday! And loving every minute of it.
