Bryant vs. American Standard opinions

Aug 10, 2006 2 Replies

Greetings -

Anyone care to share thoughts and opinions on the following two furnace options, assuming roughly equivalent BTU output & price:

1) Bryant 345MAV, 92%, single stage burner, multistage blower

2) American Standard Freedom 80, 80%, two stage burner, multistage blower

The Bryant is more efficient, but A/S is two stage. A/S seems to get pretty high marks for quality and quiet. Furnace will be in a basement, so dealing with the condensate may be a bit more of a hassle.

Thanks !

How about a Goodman, 95% afue for about half the price and twice the reliability.

All furnaces have 3 or 4 speed blowers. Some furnaces have variable speed blowers for twice the price.

A simple condensate removal pump will take care of drainage issues.

how about a 2 stage Trane Variable speed furnace for the same price? you pay shipping from Ca
