Two plants were given to us last year by friends, but they didn't know their names. Would someone out there recognize these and provide me with their common/latin names ? Thanks

I don't know.
2nd one Phlox subulata -- don't know common name HTH
Rudbeckia, possibly a hybrid (Black-eyed Susan)
