beans over tulips

May 08, 2013 0 Replies

a few years ago i started planting various beans on top of the tulip patches when the plants start to die back.

i was curious if the added moisture from watering the beans in to get them sprouted and the increase in nitrogen would encourage more rot in the tulip bulbs.

after a few seasons i'd say there hasn't been a noticeable increase in rot troubles and most of the tulips seem to be holding their own.
