Hey everyone, hoping someone can shed some light on somethig I've got going on with an outlet. I've got this setup where there's a single toggle switch right above a regular duplex GFCI outlet. The switch itself has "OFF" printed on it, and there's a small red indicator light that's always on, even when the switch is in the 'OFF' position. The wierd part is, I've tried flipping the toggle switch back and forth, but it doesn't seem to cut power to the GFCI below it at all. The red light just stays lit regardless of the switch position. I've tested the GFCI itself with the "TEST" and "RESET" buttons, and those seem to work fine, tripping and resetting as they shold, so the outlet itself is defintely getting power. I'm really scratching my head here; it's in a spot where you'd expect a normal outlet, not sure why it needs this extra switch with a persistent red light that doesn't seem to do anything locally. Has anyone encountered something like this before? Is this some kind of specialized switch for an appliance that's no longer there, or maybe a dedicated circuit for something specific that I'm just not identifying?
