Melon seeds and hot water

Would inadvertently putting hot water on fresh seeds for 30 seconds or less to clean for saving, cause any viability problems?

not sure, but i would guess no for the thicker skinned kinds. thinner skin would get a maybe. depends upon how hot the water actually was.

no direct experience either way.

If you can spare a few, try planting them and see if they germinate. If so, keep the rest for next year, otherwise put them on the compost pile.
