Anyone tried out the polyfilla product for plastering over artex and if so how did it go ??

If you mean Polycell Covertex Ceiling Paint, it is meant to smooth out textured surfaces but only works on swirled pattern Artex with shallow grooves. If your Artex is a stippled finish with spikes like stalactites hanging down then Covertex can't smooth that out.
If you can plaster? then the same technique is applied to this stuff.
But then again IF YOU can plaster no need to buy an expensive prouct.
