I recently used a commercial foaming bleach product called Spring Again Garbage Disposal Cleaner and it did the trick. Of course I don't how bad my odor was relative to yours, but it might be worth a shot. I found it at Wal-Mart.

I've got a pretty strong odor coming from my garbage disposal. I've tried
