Nice. By the time they do it on the nano scale, we'd better have off- planet colonies. You know - backups!

Is this the beginning of the machine world like in Terminator movie? ;-)

I wasn't talking about using a building machine on the Moon, though, of course, that is possible. I was talking about having self- replicating nanobots loose on Earth. That requires a backup of humanity on off-world colonies.
Since they found water on Mars, the Moon will just be a staging area and spaceport. Water on Mars changes the picture.

Assuming they don't learn to create nanospaceships and go after us. ...Well, you never know.
I may have previously mentioned hereon something of bombarding Mars beforehand with moons, comets, asteroids, meteors, etc., as well as its own moons Phobos and Diemos to get Mars up to the kind of mass needed to retain a sufficient Earth-like atmosphere/gravity. Of course some of these kinds of mods might have unforeseen consequences for planetary orbits, such as the Earth's... Not that that would matter if it was infested with evil-doing nanobots. Another idea in tandem might include sucking up/compressing some of Venus' atmosphere into ships to ship to Mars and release. At some point thereafter, you could then have your seas and limestone. ;)

ments, steel
I thinking you've been sucking up some stuff. Stop huffing and step away from your toxic atmosphere - your brain cells will thank you. :)~
