Just moved into a new build two months ago and I'm allready dealing with this gross issue. Every time the dishwasher finishes its "clean" cycle, I open it up to find these nasty brownish droplets all over the inside of the door. They're kind of oily and mostly grouped around where the detergent and rinse aid dispenser is, but they're splattered further down too. It’s super frustrating becuase everythign shoud be spotless since the machine is practically brand new. I've tried changing detergents and even ran a cycle with one of those heavy-duty cleaners, but it keeps happening. I'm worried it might be some kind of mechanical grease leaking from the latch or maybe somethig stuck in the lines that I just can't see yet. Has anyone else seen this with a newer Whirlpool model? I'm wondering if it's a defect or if I'm just doing something totally wrong with how I load the racks. It's driving me crazy having to hand-wipe the door and re-wash half the plates every single morning.

That brown liquid is almost always a result of **rusty water trapped** inside your cookware rather than a mechanical failure in the dishwasher itself. Since your Whirlpool is only two months old, it's highly unlikely to be leaking motor grease or failing seals. What you're seeing is basially "rust tea"—water that got inside the rolled edges of a baking sheet or a muffin tin, rusted the untreated metal inside the rim, and then leaked out during the drying phase. Check any items you're putting in that have hollow handles or folded rims. Cookie sheets are the biggest offenders. Water gets forced into those tiny gaps under high pressure, sits there during the heat cycle, and picks up iron oxide. When the rack shifts or the door opens, it drips onto the plastic of the door and looks like a nasty, oily mess. It feels greasy becuase it's often mixed with a bit of leftover cooking fats that didn't get fully emulsified during the wash.
And it doesn't take much to cause a visible splatter. Just one cheap pan or a set of steak knives with hollow handles can ruin the look of a whole load. To narrow it down, try running a cycle with only ceramic plates and glassware. If the droplets disappear, you've confirmed the machine is fine. If you still see it after a load of just glass and ceramic, take a close look at your **dish racks**. Sometimes the vinyl coating gets a small nick from a sharp knife, and the carbon steel underneath will start bleeding rust imediately. If it relly is concentrated right under the dispenser, check if you're overfilling the rinse aid. Sometimes a massive over-dispensing of rinse aid mixed with hard water minerals can create a wierd brownish or purplish film, but usually, that's more of a streak than a droplet. My money is on a rolled-edge baking tray in the bottom rack. Stop washing those in the machine for a few days and I bet the problem goes away.
I’m having a similar issue in my new house! coud it be how the drain hose is set up under the sink? I read that if there isn't a "high loop," gross water from the sink can flow back into the dishwasher. Since yours is a new build, maybe the plumbers missed that step? I found some wierd sludge in mine and saw my hose was just flat on the bottom of the cabinet. Does your hose loop up high or go to an air gap? That might explain the oily mess if it's acutally old food water from the disposal draining back in.
Check the black insulation blanket on the exterior of the tub. Since it’s a new Whirlpool, sometimes that bitumen material melts if the water temp hits a certain point, and it seeps thru the door seams. It looks exactly like oily brown droplets and is a total pain to clean.
Another thing: pull out the spray arms and give them a shake. I’ve seen manufacturing plastic bits get stuck inside the arms of brand new units. Those bits catch old food particles and grease, which then gets spit back out during the final rinse. If you find anything rattling in there, that’s likely your culprit.
