My Bosch 9 kg washing machine, a white front load model, keeps showing a water supply icon illuminated on the display. It's been like this for a few cycles. It doesn't blink, which I initially thought meant the water pressure was fine, but the light just stays solid on regardless of the cycle stage. I checked the external stopcock and peered at the internal connections, and everything seems physically okay though.

Is this light supposed to stay on forever, or is it a lingering status that just isn't triggering the usual full error codes? I'm trying to figure out if this is a normal operational indicator I should simply ignore, or if something has actually gone wrong with the water inlet solenoid. I noticed the machine completes its spin at 800 RPM when the cycle is done, but this tap symbol remains lit the entire time. Has anyone seen this happen before and knows what the manufacturer intended for that constant illumination?

Same thing happened on my Bosch 6 kg front loader about two years back. The tap symbol stayed solid through whole cycles and I kept waiting for a proper error code that never came. Turned out the machine was just taking longer to fill than it expected. Our kitchen tap pressure was fine, but the little mesh filter inside the hose connection at the back of the machine had slowly clogged up with limescale and grit from our old pipework. The fill still finished eventually, so the cycle completed and spun out normally, but the machine logged the slow fill and kept that icon lit.

Worth shutting off the stopcock, unscrewing the inlet hose at the machine end and having a look at that filter screen. Mine was half brown with debris. I rinsed it under the tap with an old toothbrush and the icon cleared on the next wash.

If the filter looks clean, check the hose itself for kinks behind the machine, since mine had got pinched when I pushed the washer back after painting. I also tried the hose on another machine to rule out the solenoid side of things, but honestly the filter is the usual culprit and it costs nothing to check first.

I'd push back a bit on the clogged filter theory. On my old Bosch WAQ series the tap light came on solid after a flood sensor in the hose triggered, and mine filled fine the whole time. The machine kept washing and spinning normally, which is exactly why I ignored it for weeks, but the light never cleared because the aquastop hose had a slow drip at the valve end. I swapped in a standard hose and a new valve unit and the icon went away on the next wash. It could still be worth doing a quick rinse and spin only cycle with the door open enough to watch and listen. If you hear water coming in when it should, the fill itself is probly okay and the issue sits with the hose or valve rather than pressure.

Mine also did this after a power cut once, and leaving it unplugged for ten minutes reset it. Cheap to try before buying anything.

I had a similar issue with a diffrent brand of front loader last year. I figured the water level sensor was malfunctioning, since the cycle kept progressing even though the light was on. I wasn't sure if the sensor was stuck in an error state, but the problem went away after I unplugged the whole thing for a few hours. It felt too simple for a machine like that though. Has anyone actually managed to replace the water inlet solenoid without needing to take the whole back panel off? I feel like that would be a big job and I'm a bit worried about doing it myself.

On mine the light turned out to be the valve under the sink not fully open. We'd had a boiler service and the guy had turned the water off, then only opened it back up part way. Machine still filled, just slowly, so everything else looked normal. Cranked it fully open and the icon went off mid-cycle on the next wash. Also check the little rubber washer inside the hose nut, mine had swollen up and was choking the flow even with everything else clean. Cheap fix either way.

Mine turned out to be the inlet valve itself getting tired. It was still opening but not fully, so fills were creeping longer each wash until the icon just stayed on. Cycle always finished normal so I kept putting it off, then one day a wash took forever to even start tumbling. Ordered a replacement valve online, swapped it in an afternoon and the light's been off since. If the filter's clean and the stopcock's properly open like folks said above, that valve's the next thing I'd look at. They're not expensive and it's honestly an easy job on most front loaders.

Quick update - I had the external stopcock checked, and after making sure it was completley open, the tap symbol went off. That was a relief. However, the machine is still filling much slower than normal. Do you think the slow fill rate is something I shoud be worried about now that the indicator light isn't lit?
