If your Kenmore refrigerator, model 106.57572791, is not working, and the fan is running but the compressor is not, it could be due to a variety of reasons. Here are some steps you can follow to diagnose the problem:

  1. Check the power source: Make sure the refrigerator is properly plugged in and that the outlet is working. Try plugging it into a different outlet to see if that fixes the problem.
  2. Check the temperature setting: Verify that the temperature control is set to the correct setting.
  3. Check the condenser coils: Make sure the condenser coils are not clogged with dust and debris, as this can prevent the compressor from working properly.
  4. Check the start relay: The start relay is responsible for turning the compressor on and off. If it's faulty, the compressor won't work. You can test the start relay by using a multimeter to check for continuity.
  5. Check the thermostat: The thermostat controls the temperature inside the refrigerator. If it's faulty, the compressor won't turn on. You can test the thermostat by using a multimeter to check for continuity.

Regarding the black box that covers the connections to the compressor: Before removing it, make sure to unplug the refrigerator or disconnect the power source to ensure your safety. Depending on the design of your refrigerator, you may be able to simply pull out the box by gently pulling on it. In some cases, there may be screws or clips that need to be removed first. If you're unsure, it's best to consult the manufacturer's manual or contact a professional for assistance.

Remember to always take caution and follow proper safety procedures when working with electrical appliances. If you're unsure about any step in the diagnostic process, it's best to consult a professional for help.
