I HAVE A 500BTU FEDDERS WINDOW UNIT--EVERYTHING WORKS FINE BUT DOESN'T COOL-CAN I FIX THIS MYSELF

I think you meant a 5000 btu unit. if everything is running, (fan and compressor), and the unit is not cooling you will have to have it checked by a EPA certified HVAC technican.
