Hitachi 12v cordless review

Short and sweet but here it is:

I recently bought the Hitachi wh12dm2 impact driver at amazon for $249. Not a gloat but I'm ok with that.

After the batteries were charged, I started driving screws. WOW! I was driving 3" screws into hardwood with no problem. The impact keeps from stripping the screw and even takes damaged screws out.

It has a built in lcd light to light up dark spots and it automatically turns off after a while.

It comes with a 20 pieces bit accessory (very cool)

It drills also.

This is the best driver/drill I have ever owned. It feels very good in the hand is well balanced.

It's a little spendy but if you are a drill nut like me, it's worth every penny. Needless to say, I highly recommend. SH

Those impact drivers are fantastic. I have the Makita. It doesn't cam out, strip, or stall. Enormous power. And it is fast. I'm also able to chuck one of those hex shanked combined drill bit and countersink. When drilling and countersinking, the hammering mechanism doesn't trigger. But as soon as I switch to a screwdriver bit, I get plenty of hammering. Simply fantastic. And small and light too.

I got mine when HD and Lowes had their 20% off Christmas sale. I hope they do it again this year.

I have the Craftsman 14.4V impact driver, unbelievable how these drive screws with very little effort. The Craftsman one is only $89.99 with the Craftsman Club discount (until Sep. 17). Has the LED light, several bits & adaptors, two batteries & one hour charger in a blow molded case. Really a nice tool.

I bought the exact same driver at Amazon, got the extra $25 off and the free shipping. First test was a 3" deck screw, one of those types with a combination square/phillips drive. Drove it with no appreciable effort on my part into a 4" thick block of very dry sugar maple. Screw went in fine, but the bit snapped off right quick. Still, it's a big jump from my Bosch

12V cordless. It'll be interesting to see how it performs in "normal" situations.
