For sale: [Example of my work] Stickley reproduction of No. 601 Tabouret (table)

I am not trying to get this sold here, just using eBay listing as a way of showing off a few pictures of my work.

I used a chemical darkening process on Cherry and it came out really nice.

Funny , I like your repro better than the original antique. Nice work. What did you do to chemically darken it?

Nasty stuff. I found it being sold on eBay for like $5 for a pound bag. Bri ght orange crystals. I mixed a small batch and brushed it on with a cheap b rush. Browned instantly and darkened a bit more for 10-15 minutes. Then I l iterally rinsed it off in the sink for a while. Once it dried it showed a f ew orange\yellow crystals on the surface so I washed it off again with a sc rub pad and soap.

Can't be neutralized with vinegar like an acid. Can be caustic to breath so used a respirator. Can burn the skin so wore long thick rubber gloves, an apron, face shield and super caution. Hated working with it and love the co lor I get, like nothing else.

Debating if I will use it on a huge bedroom set I am planning for myself, a nd I'll build a set to sell also.

That's a beautiful piece. Have you had any luck with eBay previously? Or etsy? My better half keeps poking me to put some of my turnings on etsy, but I'm not yet satisfied with the quality of my work.

Yes I have sold on and off via eBay pretty successfully. People are looking for deal so you need to be willing to take a low price sometimes. I put th is piece at a starting price of $65 and buy it now at $150 I think. I feel that shows people what I think is a good reasonable price $150 and the $65 looks like a real deal. I hope I get at least $85.

I had an early bid on this piece for $65 so it will sell but auction is sti ll open. I have had bids kill me (with no other bid) but have also still ha d stuff get bid up at the last minute.

Add a good flowery description so people know they are getting something yo u care about. Set a closing time for the bid so people all across the count ry can be awake when it closes so they can do the last minute bid.

Shipping is always a hassle but even on larger stuff I just make it local p ickup only.

I kind of hate the guys who show a picture of one they built before and say it will only be a few weeks to build, but even those guys sell their stuff .
