Should 2 Jobs Together Be Cheaper than 2 seperate jobs ..

I posted a message a while back about a local gas fitter charging me for capping a gas pipe and it ended with me deciding to do it myself as I have done before . My gas fire needs a service so I decided to ask him to do both jobs together .He quoted me exactly twice what he had quoted me for capping the gas pipe i.e. twice his normal minimum call out charge . I admit I was surprised at what he said as I had thought that doing both jobs together would have meant the total cost would be a bit less. It seems that he isn't exactly busy as he said he could do the job more or less right away . Was I being unreasonable to have expected a reduction the cost for both jobs being done at the same time . Bacl to Plan A ...lol

Another job I can do myself ..lol I didnt get round to capping the pipe but that was my intention ....as for the fire it is working fine so I will do what you suggest ......I was just thinking it would be convenient to get him to do it but not at that cost ....

If it's an ordinary gas fire then you won't be checking the most important thing.

It is not an unreasonable assumption. The fitter will only have one set of travel expenses, time to travel, and will only have to check pressures etc once.

However, you are assuming that gas fitters have a conscience.
