i have removed the quarry floor tiles from my kitchen, all that is left is the cement adhesive. do i have to rip all this up aswell? in places it has come away but its made the original concrete floor uneven. any tips much appreciated

If you don't want the hassle of chipping the rest up? self levelling compound will get it level, however a thin layer of this is prone to cracking under everyday traffic.

It does depend on what you want to now lay on the floor.
If you are laying more ceramic tiles, I suggest that you look at the recommended min and max thicknesses on the packet of the adhesive you intend to use. So long as the the variations in the floor height can be accommodated within this range, and the tiles will be at a level compatible with other floors, skirting board, door posts etc, I would have thought you would be OK.
