OT: Mailing Lists

Can anyone recommend a decent free (or very cheap) mailing list hosting service for a club I belong to? About 40 members, probably no more than 2 or 3 emails a week, at peak, and next to none in the winter. It needs to be simple to use, preferably self-service, with confirmation of subscription (to prevent it being used to spam people) and we'd prefer confirmation of subscription by an administrator.

We used to use Yahoo, but they reworked the service last year and everyone hates it now.

It's for the race series I compete in - we need it for the administrative stuff.

Google Groups can be used purely as a mailing list and still seems to work fairly easily without changing every ten minutes like Yahoo.

Or, for a more open/linux oriented sort of service there's Gmane.

Mailchimp? Might not be what you want, and takes a little bit of setting up, and is mainly for sending out items, not discussion. Has all the admin stuff like subscribing and unsubscribing. A bit more complex than yahoo groups, so a bit more overhead in set-up, so may be more than you want.
