do you still have to last dead pcb? if so take it to an electronics repair shop...they may find a common fault on the board and fix it permanently.

*Would* have been worth it, if we had it :( Do you know if BG cover this make of boiler?

Awaiting a call back from Keston with an engineer date/time - thing it

- when the boiler works, it works very well - but my fondness for the thing really goes out the window when it packs up every 6 months.

Customer Services are good when I call them, I can't fault the engineers when they get here - it is a shame we have this repeating problem. I hope Keston can remedy the problem for good as this is well beyond being an annoyance.

Yes, and I believe they fit them too, or at least have done in the past. Actually, one of the BG Cover leaflets had a picture of an engineer in front of a Keston with the cover off -- I recognised the innards, not that this means much -- they probably just purchased a library picture for the marketing glossy.

The only problem I've had was the condensate drain getting blocked, which it's done twice. It's not the U-trap which was quite clean on both occasions, it's the drain hole on the bottom of the heat exchanger. By the second time it happened, I had worked out I could clear it by rapidly squeezing the flexible clear drain hose from the heat exchanger, which generated just enough pressure to dislodge whatever blocks it, and then several pints of accumulated water runs away and it works again. First time, I had the burner assembly off to look in the heat exchanger (also quite clean, except for a little sulphur deposit around the top which I vacuumed out), flue off to try to access the inside of the drain hole, etc. On neither occasion did I actually find out what blocked it.

For the boards, you could try Geoff of cetltd who posts here regularly. I don't know if he's built up any stock of refurbished Keston boards yet. This depends if you are confident to try replacing the board yourself too.

They cover any boiler, any age, providing there's enough essential parts to carry out key repairs on it.

Although some people have slipped through the net and after claiming have found that there are some parts are unavailable even though they've been paying for cover.

Engineer and went - it was the same PCB as before, and before that :(
